Fujifilm x100v vs Film Cameras
Have you heard all of the about the Fujifilm x100v? A camera released 3/4 years ago is now all the rage in 2023 and is out of stock absolutely everywhere most of the time. They are like gold dust.
But, why?
Well a lot of reasons that people talk about buying one is because of the film emulation (or recipes as fuji call it) that this camera provides. It is a great looking camera with a kind of vintage style but it can produce film like photos as well.
Film photography is making a huge comeback in the same way that vinyl music is. Theres some special about film photography. It’s real, it’s nostalgic and creates memories so a digital camera with incredible film emulation kind of makes sense I guess?
Emulation is nothing new, as we know this camera is nearly 4 years old, but it does beg the question… Why not just shoot real film photos on a real film camera?
The Fujifilm x100v costs around £1,400 ($1,400) brand new. A film camera will cost between £50-£200 ($50-$200). A massive price difference! There are other things to take into account like the cost of film and development with a film camera but it is defiantly worth considering.
I recently bought a film camera and fell in love with it instantly. I made a video all about this exact topic as well and why you should choose a real film camera of something like the Fuji x100v
